It's time for another 6-month Soramimi ranking!
I think using only the total number of works seen is unfair for seiyuu who doesn't work on as many series (that I've seen) but play more important roles, so starting from this one, the format will be as followed:
Name
Number of works seen
Number of lead roles
Number of regular roles
(name: seen/lead/regular)
Using Bleach as an example, only Ichigo and Rukia are considered lead roles. The shimigami from Soul Society are mostly regular roles unless they don't appear enough. The Bound and zanpakutou are not regular roles as they only appear for the single arc, so they are just guests in the grand scheme of Bleach. They normally would be considered regulars if the series isn't 300+ episodes... The three plushy supposedly made by Uehara in the anime are considered regular roles since they seem to have taken permanent residency at the shop, as much as I don't care for them.
Characters who died in the series but are often remembered through flash backs might be considered regular roles even if they died in the 3rd episode. If the image of a certain musket-wielding blond girl appears here, yes, that's who I am referencing.
Characters who have their own routes in renai games are counted toward lead roles.
I scratched the merchandise count because it's a pain to try to remember all the stuff I own (and do I count things on order or kept at a friend's place?). I also keep about 30 CD's at work, all anime or seiyuu related. Too much work to keep track for the ranking purpose.

In an ideal world, the percentages should translate to the likelihood of me watching a series because of the seiyuu. However, anime watching is never so straightforward as seiyuu is only one factor in determining the quality of a series. It might be the only driving force if an anime sucks to a degree but has a good cast or lead characters, but it's not an everyday occurrence.
Only 2 female and 2 male seiyuu are in my surveyed top 15 list (for each gender). It would be interesting when I add more seiyuu from the top 15 list to Soramimi and do a comparison then.

Soramimi Project #29: Ishida Akira 石田彰

My honmei male seiyuu! XD
Ishida-san is undoubtedly one of the best seiyuu out there and is of legendary status. One of his most famous stunts involved him portraying 7 different characters (himself, father, mother, grandpa, grandma, younger brother, and younger sister) in a 5-min track where he listens to an answering machine message left by his families.
I first heard Ishida-san in Kare Kano, but as Kare Kano was my 2nd ever anime in Japanese, I knew nothing about seiyuu. When I really started to watch anime a few years after, Kaoru from Evangelion caught my attention. Soon after I met Xelloss from Slayers TRY, and that's when I started to recognize his voice.
As can be gathered from the very high number of works I've seen of Ishida-san (which is probably not even half of what he's done), he's pretty much played any type of characters imaginable, from young to old, male to female, hero to last boss, cold-blooded to hot-blooded... You name it, he's probably played it. And he is goooood. He creates a presence for his character whenever he speaks.
He's got a very smooth and graceful voice, but he's stopped singing character songs after 2002 (but would sing if it's part of the act in the show), which is a real shame. I really like his Xelloss songs for Slayers Next and Try.
The first time I heard Ishida-san's own voice in a web radio program, I was surprised at how high his pitch was. He's generally known to not be a people's person, and he often appears in photos without a smile. But when he's amongst people he's familiar with, he opens up a bit and acts more freely. Then he becomes a potential tsukkomi person, especially when he's with good friends such as Hoshi Souichirou.
Despite having heard many works where Ishida-san appears in, I still squeal in happiness whenever I hear him. Since he's my honmei male seiyuu, obviously I'd want to hear as many of his works as possible. I'd shoot for 150 works if it's possible, but seeing how I don't have access to Japanese games, this is not really feasible since I'm also watching other anime as they air and therefore can't just watch anime that he appears in.
I'm probably pushing it to even shoot for 110, but I'm gonna set the goal at 120 works by the end of 2012. Anything more would be bonus. XD

Soramimi Project #28: Tanaka Rie 田中理恵

Tanaka Rie is in the list of my top 10 female seiyuu, and for good reasons. Compare to some other seiyuu, I actually haven't seen a lot of her works, but almost every single one of her character leaves an impression on me. 2002 was when I started to get into anime more so I can't be sure if I got to watch Chobits as it aired. So my first experience was either with Gundam SEED or Chobits.
Lacus Clyne was what opened my eyes to RieRie's wonderful voice and acting skills. The phrase "粉紅切開來裡面都是黑的" (the inside of pink is black) was coined for the character in the Chinese ACG community, thanks in no small part to her striking portrayal of the character transformation over the period of 50 episodes. Live event for shows are not counted toward the number of works seen, but I think RieRie's appearance at the Gundam SEED Festival is worth a mention here.
RieRie plays a wide range of character types, as illustrated in some of the memorable characters I listed above. She's remarkable as anego roles, charming as gentle and calm girls, and exceptional as maniacal and scheming characters. She has a great singing voice and sings a number of character and theme songs for various titles. Her character song "水の証"(Mizu no Akashi) for Gundam SEED was one of the first (if not the first) songs in Japanese that I had the lyrics memorized. She also has a nice figure (really!) and a known avid gamer.
Beside the series I listed under the memorable section, she's probably best known for her roles such as Suigintou from the Rozen Maiden series and Maria from the Hayate no Gotoku series. There's a lot of her works that I haven't seen, so I look forward to see and hear more of RieRie!

I usually try to buy what I can (and on the look out to poach series released in new boxset), but there's simply too much stuff (especially outside the DVD/BD department) that's not available in North America...

Soramimi Project #27: Ishikawa Hideo 石川英郎
First heard: Akira (Weiß kreuz)
First noticed: Ukitake Juushirou (Bleach)
Memorable characters: Ukitake Juushirou (Bleach), Tooyama Kintarou (Tantei Gakuen Q), Kanazawa Hiroto (Kiniro no Corda ~primo passo~), Oliver May (Gundam MS igLoo)

Out of the 19 works I've heard him in, 5 are Bleach. Ukitake is one of the regulars in Bleach (unfortunately, due to the physical condition of the character, he doesn't leave a very strong impression or have too many scenes), but I still have trouble recognizing Ishiwaka-san voice in other works a lot of the times, unless it's of a similar pitch as Ukitake's. I do sometimes recognize him in photos from the few Kiniro no Corda seiyuu interviews I've seen, however.
Judging from the list of characters I've seen Ishiwaka-san played, most of his roles are supporting characters, while some are part of the main cast. The only main character I've seen him played is Oliver May from Gundam MS igLoo, who gives a glimpse of the One Year War from a rarely explored prospective. (I didn't cry watching The Hidden One Year War, but I did for Apocalypse 0079. Must-see OVA for anyone! No previous Gundam experience or knowledge required to enjoy. Of course, having it will allow you to get the full taste.)
I'd list Auron from Final Fantasy X under the memorable characters, but it's really been too long for me to remember what he sounded like, especially since Auron wasn't awfully talkative.
Since Ishikawa-san isn't as active on the anime front as many of the other seiyuu, I kinda doubt I'll ever be familiar with his voice. But he's in a couple of the series I'm waiting to watch (there's only 100+ of those, too), so I will still hear him here and there. Hopefully I'll be able to raise the discernment rate from low to at least an average...

Soramimi Project #26: Yamatera Kouichi 山寺宏一
First heard: Kaji Ryouji (Evangelion)

Anyone who's watched anime for some time would know this name even if one hasn't heard him in Evangelion or Cowboy Bebop (rather over-rated in North America IMO but nevertheless monumental series). More seasoned anime fans would remember him as Hibiki Ryouga, P-chan and the Cursed Spring guide from Ranma 1/2. Unfortunately, I've only seen a short youtube clip on Yamatera-san's prowess as the three characters in one scene but have not the opportunity to actually watch the series, which I'd very much love to.
Out of the 17 works I've heard Yamatera-san, four are Evangelion, including the 2nd movie of the Rebuild of Evangelion: 2.0 YOU CAN (NOT) ADVANCE. Of course, Kaji speaking English was a highlight for us before we realized the personality transformation for the main characters and a depart from the typical drama(!?) that Evangelion has been famous for. Yeah, can't wait to see the last two movies to see where it'll lead to. XD
While going through the list of works on ja.wikipedia, I noticed that he played Gyunei Guss from Char's Counterattack! However, CCA was the very first work I ever saw for UC Gundam, so I was focusing on getting the background and the story and didn't notice him. That, and due to the age of the movie (1988), I didn't expect to hear anyone I'd know beside Seiya, Shiryuu and, of course, Char. XD
I haven't heard that much of Yamatera-san, but he's definitely a great seiyuu and a veteran in the field, and I'd want to hear more of him for sure. If only I have access to the older anime series...!

Soramimi Project #25: Ishii Makoto 石井真
First heard: Makabe Kazuki (Soukyuu no Fafner)

Memorable characters: Makabe Kazuki (Soukyuu no Fafner), Nakagami Shinichirou (true tears), Kobayakawa Shinji/Prince Chaos Crimson (Princess Nightmare)

It's obvious that I haven't heard a lot of him, but his voice is rather easy to recognize. Having heard him as the lead for some shows also help, especially when those are memorable works.
When I first watched Soukyuu no Fafner, the only seiyuu I knew were Saiga Mitsuki and Toyoguchi Megumi. Ishii's acting was still crude at that time, but it fit the character and experience of Kazuki, who is green in both human relationship and the way of the world. As the war against Festum progressed, so did Ishii's acting.
By the time I heard him again as the lead in true tears, he's already quite decent (I'm a supporter of Noe, btw). He even got me to play Shinji's route in Princess Nightmare even when I found Shinji to be somewhat annoying.
Ishii doesn't seem to be very active, but I do have a couple series on hand in which he played. I look forward to see how he's evolved!

Soramimi Project #24: Ikeda Shuuichi 池田秀一

I'm sure the first thing that comes to mind to any Gundam fan when they see the name of Ikeda Shuuichi is: Char!! Same here. XD
Out of the 21 works I've heard him, 12 are Gundam, of which he played Char in all but two. Even for the two where he's not Char, he's close friend with a Char-like characterand died in a sunken space fort with the woman played by the ex-wife of Amuro's seiyuu.
Despite his strong presence in the Gundam universe, I actually first heard him in Tenjo Tenge, which is a martial fighting-themed show where the most advanced technology is the cell phone. His voice and acting as Natsume Shin left an impression on me, but I didn't know anything about UC Gundam except for the title of the series and who the main characters were. I did not know I was in the presence of the Red Comet since I had yet to know who voiced Char or what he sounded like.

I'm sure the first thing that comes to mind to any Gundam fan when they see the name of Ikeda Shuuichi is: Char!! Same here. XD
Out of the 21 works I've heard him, 12 are Gundam, of which he played Char in all but two. Even for the two where he's not Char, he's close friend with a Char-like character
Despite his strong presence in the Gundam universe, I actually first heard him in Tenjo Tenge, which is a martial fighting-themed show where the most advanced technology is the cell phone. His voice and acting as Natsume Shin left an impression on me, but I didn't know anything about UC Gundam except for the title of the series and who the main characters were. I did not know I was in the presence of the Red Comet since I had yet to know who voiced Char or what he sounded like.

Soramimi Project #23: Kakazu Yumi かかずゆみ

Interestingly, because of the personality of Okuni, her voice and acting in SDK is very different from her other works that I've heard. But I still picked Okuni as her image character because that's how I related to her voice afterward, even though the pitch vastly differed. In actuality, because I've seen her on TV show (NHK anime show), I usually connect her voice to her face whenever I hear her.
Apparently, she made her debut as Sala in Gundam X in 1996, which is actually the latest work I heard her in. I don't like her role as Ririn in Bleach too much, but that's mainly because it's an anime-only character created for a bad filler arc. The concept for the Bounts isn't so bad, but the execution and story flow is, especially regarding the involvement of Shinigami and Rukia.
I like Silvia in Aquarion, but the series doesn't quite allow for character development in depth, and the relationship between Silvia and Apollo is only touched on slightly. Not enough romance at all, considering that the series supposedly revolves around the reincarnation and reunion of the two after 12,000 years.
She seems to be doing less anime since child birth, but there's still a lot of chances to hear her if I watch the older series. Of course, when I'd get to do that depends on how much time I have, and it usually isn't much.....

Soramimi Project #22: Yamazaki Takumi 山崎たくみ

I haven't heard that much of him, but a couple of the characters, namely those listed under memorable characters, leave enough impression on me. Even though he's done quite a bit of work over the years, judging from the list on jp.wikipedia, I think I've covered many of his major roles.
His Gundam characters are rather flamboyant and seem like a ladies' man, but both are actually single-minded toward the girl of their heart. Muu carries a regal air befitting his status of a Gold Saint, helping the Bronze warriors in his own way before heading to the final battle against fellow Gold Saints. Frankly I don't quite remember his Jiras voice since Slayers TRY was one of my earliest series, but I do plan to re-watch the series sometimes now that I have the DVDs.
Yamazaki Takumi doesn't seem to be as active as before so there's not much chance hearing him unless one watches an older series. I'll probably hear more of him when I find the time to dig out some older shows.

Soramimi Project #21: Yamaguchi Kappei 山口勝平

Ranma 1/2 and Detective Conan or One Piece probably come to mind when most people think of Yamaguchi Kappei. Unfortunately, I've never seen any of these. But I did meet him through another one of his major career works, Inuyasha. I will try to watch Ranma 1/2 and maybe Conan to hear what he sounds like before (this summer is probably a good time as I currently only have 4-6 anime planned and would have the time and bandwidth; One Piece is already planned for the near future because I want to hear Nakai-san's Zoro XD).
Yamaguchi Kappei has a unique nasal and somewhat scratchy voice, and he is really good at acting. Having heard him first in 2000 in Inuyasha and recently in Inuyasha Kanketsuhen, the effect of age and extensive wear on his vocal cord was noticeable, but he was still the Inuyasha we all loved, and more.
Most of the characters I've heard of him are the hot-blooded or genki type, but he's good with a cool type like L from Death Note as well, or a calculating type like Noin from Kamikaze Kaitou Jeanne. Regardless of the character type, though, most of them have an inner innocence despite the front they put up. I find this quite fitting, because Yamaguchi-san always carries an air of innocence himself. He's a very cute and family-loving man. :)
Never seen him in a play, but judging from his seiyuu performance and his character, I'm sure he's great on stage. Would definitely like to hear more of him in works to come, as well as his past works. これからも頑張ってください！

Due to the similarity in name, I used to mix up Kaida Yuuko and Kaida Yuki a lot before I heard Kaida Yuuko in RIGHT OF LEFT and Kaida Yuki in Shounen Onmyoji. However, even though I can tell the two apart now, I would notice K. Yuuko's voice while watching a show but only recognize it about half the time. She has the acting skill, but her voice has a rather neutral tone so it's not as easy for me to remember and squeeze into my limited-capacity memory. Even in RIGHT OF LEFT, her voice didn't leave that much of an impression on me, but the character was played so vividly that I extended the notice from the character to the seiyuu.
While I named Ikoma Yumi as my image character for her, the character that left the most impression on me is actually Vivaldi. The reason why Vivaldi wasn't picked was because the impression was more due to a combination of the character's setting and the nature of the medium (adventure game) rather than the voice. Vivaldi is not really a playable character, so I didn't bother to get her CGs or take her friendship route. As a result, her presence isn't as strong as Yumi's, who went through traumatic ordeals and fought to the very end in RIGHT OF LEFT (speaking of which, I really really really want the DVD or BD for it).
Because of her slightly deep and husky voice, a lot of her characters seem to have strong resolution and inner strength, as illustrated in my list of memorable characters. They're all likable characters, if only I can learn to recognize her voice better... I look forward to when that day comes!

Soramimi Project #19: Takagi Wataru 高木渉

One of the few seiyuu I haven't seen much but know the voice fairly well; Takagi's husky voice is hard to miss. Again, Weiss kreuz being my first ever anime in Japanese and happened years before I really started to watch anime, I don't remember almost anyone except the Weiss members. So if it's discounted, I really first heard Takagi as Valgarv in Slayers TRY.
Valgarv is an interesting character, born Ancient Dragon but able to wield Chao Dragon Garv's Mazoku power, swearing revenge on the Gold Dragons but didn't extended the killing spree to Filia and eventually came to be under Filia's wings. Common fanfic settings is to have Valgarv being interested in Filia during TRY season or AU and being protective of adoptive mother Filia post-TRY. At least that's I see it when I write.
His role in the dubbed version of 17 Again frankly isn't all that memorable compared to his other roles, but he's one of the first two voices I recognized and made me continue watching the unsubbed dubbed film on the plane. Of course, Morita was the deciding factor when the main guy turned 17. XD
My latest meeting with Takagi was in Gundam X where he played the protagonist Garrod Ran. Garrod wasn't my main focus in Gundam X (Witz was more my type), but it's nice to add another seiyuu to my list of Gundam roster. Looks like he'll appear in the next instalment of Gundam UC as well. Definitely looking forward to it!

Soramimi Project #18: Amano Yuri 天野由梨

Another one of those seiyuu I'm only familiar with the name but not the voice. It's obvious that I tie her with Rain from G Gundam by just looking at the stats above.
Even though she is the heroine, she is unfortunately cursed with the deadly trait of having the majority of her lines being the protagonist's name. As a result, there isn't very much character development and thus making her less memorable amongst the extremely colourful cast of characters in G Gundam. The Sekiha Love-love Tenkyouken(石破ラブラブ天驚拳) she performed with Domon at the end that released heart-shaped beam is awesome, though. XD
Her G Gundam songs are quite good, and I find the Hong Kong touring song with Seki Tomokazu especially hilarious. On a side note, G Gundam probably isn't remembered for its music, but it's got some pretty good character songs, by Seki before he destroyed his vocal cord with all the Domon shouting, no less! The four Cantonese tracks from the G Gundam Round 3 OST also happen to be the only Cantonese songs I have.
Quite a few of the roles I've seen her are of a motherly nature which I think suits her well (even Rain kind of acts like a mother to Domon sometimes). I may not have her voice down yet, but I sure hope to hear more of Amano Yuri!

One of those seiyuu that I recognize the name but not really the voice. The main reason I started taking note of his name was because the voice of Naraku changed during the Sango arc. I got confused and found two seiyuu for Naraku when I checked, one of which being Yanaka Hiroshi.
I really haven't heard very much of him, but I liked Chris from Zegapain. It's so sad that Chris and his wife have to part. T__T
I think I kind of got the hang of it when I heard him again recently in Inuyasha Kanketsuhen. I'm interested in testing out my method but he doesn't seem to be playing many roles in the series I plan to watch... Ah well.

One of those seiyuu that I recognize the name but not really the voice. The main reason I started taking note of his name was because the voice of Naraku changed during the Sango arc. I got confused and found two seiyuu for Naraku when I checked, one of which being Yanaka Hiroshi.
I really haven't heard very much of him, but I liked Chris from Zegapain. It's so sad that Chris and his wife have to part. T__T
I think I kind of got the hang of it when I heard him again recently in Inuyasha Kanketsuhen. I'm interested in testing out my method but he doesn't seem to be playing many roles in the series I plan to watch... Ah well.

Soramimi Project #16: Asano Masumi 浅野真澄

One of the earlier seiyuus I learned to recognize. I first noticed her when I heard her in Spiral, though I was also getting her mixed up with Horie Yui at that time. I got her voice down by the time I heard Risa from D.N.Angel. Asano Masumi has a very distinct voice with a hint of innocence and sunshine. Even though I haven't heard very much of her, I think I've recognized her 90% of the time. The only role I'm unsure of is the nameless girl B she played in Full Metal Panic Fumoffu. Seriously can't remember if I heard her or not...
Not only is her voice easy to discern, her tone doesn't change very much from character to character. This may be due to the type of characters I've heard her so far, but I won't know until I hear more of her. As a result, I can't pin down an image character for her. When I see her name, the image of Sayoko pops up in my head, but I actually don't have much recollection of the character because my focus was mainly on Kuwashima Houko and a few other people. I could say Harada Risa since six out of the 18 works are D.N.Angel, but when I hear Risa, I don't think of Asano-san. Many of her major roles are memorable, but none really stands out to be her image character.
When I was looking up her roles on ja.wikipedia, I noticed that she's also been writing children stories and provides lyrics for a few people, including Atari Kousuke! Definitely would like to read her books given the chance. Her voice borders on denpa for me, but I'd like to hear more of her for sure, as long as it's not a moe character...

Soramimi Project #15: Yasumoto Hiroki 安元洋貴

Despite knowing Yasumoto's voice fairly well, he's not really on my radar. As a result, I was rather surprised by the high number of works I've heard of him. While his role in Bleach accounts for four, 31 is still an impressive number for him.
The first time I heard Chad in Bleach, I was slightly taken aback by his deep voice but found it quite suitable at the same time. I did not expect it to be only one pitch lower than the seiyuu's natural voice. When I saw Yasumoto at the Bleach Soul Sonic, I rested my case.
Since his voice isn't really my type, I didn't play the Count Dracula route in Princess Nightmare. Of course, the fact that he's the adoptive father was a big factor as well... Don't really have much to say about him except that I hear his voice regularly because of Bleach. As like many male seiyuu, Yasumoto doesn't have many different pitches, but I wouldn't mind hearing more of him outside of Bleach.
BTW, when I was looking up his roles on ja.wikipedia, Chrome Shelled Regios/Legend of Regios wasn't listed. I can understand somewhat since none of the English-speaking cast was mentioned in the credit roll, but come on...
I'm the very lazy type that finds it very hard to get back into a habit once I fall out of it. But I do like to write, so this is a weak attempt of trying to get back. Hopefully I'll regain the zest to where I used to write weekly. We'll see. :Q

Soramimi Project #14: Takagaki Ayahi 高垣彩陽

Takagaki Ayahi is really new, only just debuted in 2006, but she's already appeared in numerous anime over the few years and even played lead in some of them.
I remember checking out the name of the seiyuu for her role in Special A. as Yamamoto Megumi, but that character very rarely speaks so it didn't leave much impression on me even though I found it to be a nice voice.
Many probably disagree and might even want to flame me for this, but I really like Nina Antalk from Chrome Shelled Regios. This time, I managed to remember the name of the seiyuu voicing her. But Nina's pitch is so different from many of Takagaki's other characters, I almost took a double back when I later heard her as Isurugi Noe from true tears, who also happened to be my preferred female lead from the anime. That cockroach song is most cute. XD
Despite the fact that I already associate her name with a few memorable characters, I haven't gotten her voice down yet. Her voice acting no doubt played a role in me liking Nina, Noe and Ein, but I'd probably go for them if I meet them in a text form because of their personalities. I don't deny that she makes it all the more enjoyable to like those characters, though.
So far, many of her characters seem to have bad lucks when it comes to love, but I'll continue to cheer for them and Takagaki Ayahi. Hopefully I'll be able to recognize her voice in the near future. :)
Speaking of Takagaki Ayahi's characters not doing great in love, I just have to do a small rant here about Chrome Shelled Regios. *spoiler* At first I was hoping that Nina would get to be with Layfon, but this seems out of the question now that he realized his feelings toward Leerin. Deeku expressed his interest in a few occasions, but he seems to forget about it and focuses only on his revenge now. I really hope Nina can be his support and light in his eternal cycles of existence. *end spoiler*
I'm at vol.14 right now and eagerly wait for the next volume. One thing I have to say about the author's writing style, is that he uses way too many negative forms (or whatever it's called) in his sentences. Once I got fed up and counted the number of something-ない on the page I was on. I forgot what the exact figure was, but it was definitely over 12. It also makes it that much more difficult for me to read and understand, especially considering my Japanese level... -__-
I'm very good in coming up with ideas (but never finish or even start them), so I've decided to do another project for anime in a similar format to Soramimi. I'll be alternating between Soramimi and the anime project (Animania?) so I won't need to write so often. Yes, I'm just lazy...
Mukashibanashi? It'll see the light of day, eventually. I move at geological or astronomical time scale, whatever it means. XD
While I was writing this post, I received a notice from Club Japan saying that they're out of stock of 彩雲国物語: 暗き黄昏の宮 and cancelled my order. They did mention that the publisher plans to do a reprint on February 28, but the volume was only released in December, and friend-I couldn't even get hold of a copy while on Christmas vacation... I might still have time as long as they get some in stock before the end of March. *crosses fingers*

I've seen her name since my early days of anime watching, but I can never manage to remember her voice for some reason... Sometimes I'd find the character's voice familiar but unable to place it until I see the credit roll. Out of the shows I've seen of her, her characters are actually some of the ones that I took note of.
Even though I listed Luka as my image character for Asakawa Yuu, I pledge guilty that I haven't really listened to Luka at all except for RIP=RELEASE. I've heard a few other ones performed by real people as cover songs but I have yet to hear the original by Luka. Luka kind of came out at a bad time because I was still in the middle of a long period of gap shortly after the 4 main songs of Aku no Series were posted, so I never explored her songs at all.
When my bandwidth quota resets for next month, I'm gonna spend some time on Niconico and do some serious catch up on all the Vocaloid songs.
On a side note (half of this post is already about Vocaloid rather than Asakawa Yuu-san... orz), this article has the sales number for the different Vocaloid series as of October 2009. I can't believe Kaito only has 5000 sold (out of which, over 1000 was sold through the Niconico Market)! I actually like Kaito the best out of the Vocaloids. I'm kind of bitter that Kaito is 2000/XP only. Meiko, too. :(
While I'm at it, let me demonstrate to you a wonderful Vocaloid cover by all 7 Vocaloids. I found this just now as I was looking for a good example to post, and I immediately fell for it.

Soramimi Project #12: Akimoto Yousuke 秋元羊介
First heard: Ino (Like the Clouds, Like the Wind)
First noticed: Master Asia/Stalker (G Gundam)
Memorable characters: Master Asia/Stalker (G Gundam), Taisa (Kimi ga Aruji de Shitsuji ga Ore de)

Out of the vast Gundam universe, G Gundam is probably one of the most unique series in many aspects. Out of the large cast of G Gundam, Master Asia is probably one of the most impressive characters. And Stalker's catch phrase is probably one of the most parodied AU Gundam lines. As a result, Akimoto Yousuke = Master Asia/Stalker in my mind. XD
He tends to play a small role for a lot of works beside G Gundam, so I actually don't have that many memorable characters for him. Even Taisa from KimiAru is essentially a parody of Master Asia (Gotta love the master-disciple interaction in the anime XD).
I'm pretty decent with recognizing him after G Gundam even if he only appears in that single episode, even if he's just a nameless Taforashia citizen in Slayers Evolution-R with one or two lines. But I put down average as my discernment rate for him because I didn't notice him in Seiken no Blacksmith in the beginning...
One interesting thing to note here is the first work I heard him in, Like the Clouds, Like the Wind. I actually watched that on VHS that I borrowed from a friend. The first half of the story is pretty typical (but might be unique back in the days?), but the second half and the ending is somewhat dramatic even by current standard. If my memory serves me right, that is.
I'm looking forward to more great performances from Akimoto-san. それでは！ガンダムファイト！ レディ、ゴー！

Park Romi is my 2nd overall favourite female seiyuu, surpassed only by Kuwashima Houko. I talked about her a little back in 2006, so I'll recap/translate a bit from that post and add in new perceptions.
I first heard Park-san in Tao Ren from Shaman King, but I only watched a few episodes of that show so I didn't really remember any of the voices. I was quite impressed by a few of the Tao Ren character songs, though. My first real encounter with Park Romi was in Matantei Loki Ragnarok, where she played the ever scheming Heimdall and the feigning innocent Higashiyama Kazumi. That anime really has a great and heavyweight seiyuu cast, and that's where I took note of Park Romi, Morikubo Shotarou and Sakurai Takahiro.
I next heard her in Edward Elric from FMA, but I got distracted when I was about five episodes in and didn't finish it until mid 2006. What really pushed her to the top of my list was Natsume from Gakuen Alice and Ueki from Ueki no Housoku.
She is probably most famous for voicing younger male characters, but her female voice is pretty awesome as well. There's actually more memorable characters, but listing them all would take up too many lines. Why is Loran not on the list? Because I haven't actually watched Turn-A Gundam and have only seen bits and pieces of it so I didn't count it out of respect for the show.
Park-san's voice is very graceful and thick, so it's always a treat to hear her speak or sing. Her acting skills is very versatile, ranging from hot-blooded hero type, cold-blooded killer, confident, timid, mysterious, level-headed, evil and twisted, tsudere, innocent... She doesn't have many different pitches so it's easy to recognize her, but her characters are all given distinct personalities through her acting. Because there's so many of her characters that I like, I can't decide on an image character for her. Loran might be it after I watch Turn-A, though. We'll see. XD
As mentioned above, Park Romi also has a good voice for singing, and she sings in the character's voice for character songs. I quite like Tao Ren's character songs and the ED of Murder Princess. Ed's character songs and the ED of Ueki no Housoku are nice, too.

Her acting skills is very versatile, ranging from hot-blooded hero type, cold-blooded killer, confident, timid, mysterious, level-headed, evil and twisted, tsudere, innocent... She doesn't have many different pitches so it's easy to recognize her, but her characters are all given distinct personalities through her acting. Because there's so many of her characters that I like, I can't decide on an image character for her. Loran might be it after I watch Turn-A, though. We'll see. XD
As mentioned above, Park Romi also has a good voice for singing, and she sings in the character's voice for character songs. I quite like Tao Ren's character songs and the ED of Murder Princess. Ed's character songs and the ED of Ueki no Housoku are nice, too.
Since she is my 2nd overall favourite female seiyuu, it's natural that I have a very high discernment rate of her. I can also identify her at a glance. She's quite the beauty and stylish in her own way. I'm looking forward to finish more of her past works and hear more of her in future works.
